  1. horse_ebooks avatar cartoon

Is the creator of @Horse_ebooks playing us for fools?

Has @Horse_ebooks become self-aware? And has it started self-promoting?

Some background: It is thought that @Horse_ebooks, the funny Twitter robot that chops and screws snippets of text from ebooks and marketing pitches, then regurgitates them into surreal found poetry on Twitter, is entirely automated, and that its aleatory tweets are the happy by-product of a misguided and nonsensical attempt to market ebooks.

But there are signs of human intervention, signs that become more complicated now that @horse_ebooks is aware of its fanbase. »

  2. Matt Inman of The Oatmeal kinda sucks

Finally, we can all start openly hating The Oatmeal

RAINBOW ZOMBIE MONKEY ON A UNICORN!

    DAE geek nerd coolsplosion awesomesauce?

Computer Tesla cat go MEOW to fatties!

    — The Oatmeal

Yesterday, Matthew Inman, who runs The Oatmeal, posted a comic saying why he hit certain keyboard keys (riveting material). In the last panel, the original line went “Every time the internet does not perform as expected, I rape the shit out of my F5 key.” The image went like this:

He has since hidden the comic from any site navigation, but this link still works.

Complaints started rolling in, and, angry that his every RANDOM!! thought wasn’t being worshipped, Inman replaced the last panel with this:

Thanks to @mattlanger for the image.

Here’s the thing — everyone fucks up at some point or another. Some, especially those who may have more privilege than others, just aren’t exposed to people who find certain terms and attitudes offensive. We all get that.

But here’s how Matt Inman turned this into a shitstorm. »

  3. Eat More Bikes webcomic header

Eat More Bikes: The best weirdo webcomic hiding on Blogspot

I found a webcomic! A webcomic that’s good for fans of Toothpaste Dinner, Pictures for Sad Children, Perry Bible Fellowship, Feel AfraidGunshow, or Three Word Phrase. Maybe you already read it!

It’s Nathan Bulmer’s Eat More Bikes, and it’s on Blogspot but there’s a Tumblr version. The art is similar to the comics above — rough, fun and loose. Like the others, the punchline is often more an “oh you!” than a pure “ha!” But Eat More Bikes is a bit more joke-based than the often just-melancholy tone of Pictures for Sad Children or Three Word Phrase.
